Living your best life. Living your best life, that’s what we’re all about here at Best Life Global. Living our best lives and helping other people do the same thing. And one thing that I found is that a big part of, at least for me, living my best life, is getting really intentional about the habits that I set. I like to say I have a habit of changing my habits. And hopefully, I’m moving towards good habits and moving away from bad habits. People that do that, that on purpose live their entire lives focusing on their habits, they live better lives than the people who don’t.
And a habit I wanna encourage you to really invest in, is the habit of getting up earlier in the morning. And there’s tons of research out there that shows that people that get up earlier every day, they live better lives, they’re happier, they’re healthier, they’re more productive, they’re more successful, they have better lives.
And it’s very anti-cultural to do this, it seems like most of the good television shows come on late at night and there’s all kinds of peer pressure to stay up late. There’s all kinds of pressure to not get enough sleep and it’s not a typical thing to do to get up early and get on with your day but try it.
And there’s all kinds of research out there, there’s all kinds, also a lot of books out that talk about this topic. And I think I’ve read most of ’em. “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy is a great book on personal habits. Hal Elrod’s “The Miracle Morning” is a really good book on all the advantages of getting up early and getting started early. I love Mel Robbins’ book, “The 5 Second Rule” which gives you a trick for how to train yourself to jump out of bed in the morning when the alarm clock goes off.
We’ve found that early in the morning before all the other activities start, is when you have the clarity, the most energy, the most productivity, even more courage to do hard things.
A big part of getting up early in the morning is setting the habit of going to bed every night a little bit earlier and getting a good night sleep. And I have friends that get by with three, four, five hours of sleep, and I think they’re the unusual few. Most people need between seven, eight, sometimes nine hours of sleep to operate at their best. I know for me, I need eight hours.
So my advice to you is create the habit of going to bed at approximately the same time every night, including on the weekends, and create the habit of getting up early, at about the same time every morning. And if you’ll do that, over time, you’ll find that you’ll wake up with more energy, more clarity, more productivity, and work on yourself first thing in the morning before you work on other things.
I think that’ll help, I hope you try it, let me know how it goes. We’ll talk to you later, thanks.
