Summary:
Do you want to see big changes in your life? Are there things that you struggle with and you wish you could change but for some reason you’ve been unable to get it done?
Whether it’s losing weight, worrying less, finding your passion, being a better husband or wife, saving money, or procrastinating less, the odds of making permanent change aren’t very good. Why is this? Why do so many people want to make a change but fail to do it?
Here’s my theory, this was taught to me by my mentor and life coach, Dr. Tom Hill. Dr. Hill taught me that in order to change your life, you’ve got to have three things:
1. You’ve got to have knowledge
2. You’ve got to have a significant emotional experience
3. You have to have action
Without all three of these things in place, most people will stay in their same old ruts, their same old patterns and not put in the effort over a long enough period of time to make permanent change.
Knowledge is the easiest part.
It’s everywhere and it’s basically free. You can Google anything and learn about it.The list is endless for ways to learn but you’ve got to want to learn it.
A significant emotional experience is usually what will jolt an adult into realizing that a change is needed and it will spur the initial idea of taking action. It could be a death in the family or a divorce, a job loss or a health issue, or even a picture taken in your swimsuit on the beach.
Action is the hard part.
Almost everyone who starts on an improvement plan will give up way before permanent, sustained change is made. This applies to exercising, to eating healthy, to ending addictions, becoming more patient, being a better partner, on and on. Maintaining the action part of the plan is where written goal setting over a long term planning horizon, and having accountability partners along the way are very important.
In my personal journey of growth, I’ve experienced over and over where this formula proved true for me. With knowledge, with some type of significant emotional experience, and with disciplined action repeated over time, I’ve been able to literally transform my life. I’ve seen the same great results with many of the people I’ve coached over the years.
I encourage you to examine your life. Decide if there are changes that you’d like to make in your career, in your health, in your marriage and even in your patterns of thinking.
Change can be wonderful, but often very difficult. Changes that allow you to live your exceptional life and leave the legacy that you desire, these things are your birth right and they’re within your control.
I encourage you to take charge of your life. Make the changes that you need to make and live your fullest, most significant life being all that you can be.

Hey there. Coach Brett Blair here.
Do you want to see big changes in your life? Are there things that you struggle with and you wish you could change but for some reason you’ve been unable to get it done?
Whether it’s losing weight or worrying less or finding your passion or being a better husband or a wife, saving money, procrastinating less, the odds of making permanent change aren’t very good and why is this? Why do so many people want to make a change but they fail to do it?
Here’s my theory and actually it was taught to me by my mentor and life coach, Dr. Tom Hill. Dr. Hill taught me that in order to change your life, you’ve got to have three things: You’ve got to have knowledge; you’ve got to have significant emotional experience; you have to have action. Without all three of these things in place, most people will stay in their same old ruts, their same old patterns and not put in the effort over a long enough period of time to make permanent change.
Knowledge is the easiest part. It’s everywhere and it’s basically free. You can Google anything and learn about it. There are books and videos and podcasts and audio programs and seminars and coaches and teachers. The list is endless for ways to learn, for sources of knowledge, but you’ve got to want to learn it.
A significant emotional experience is usually what will jolt an adult into realizing that a change is needed and it will spur the initial idea of taking action. A significant emotional experience could be a death in the family or a divorce, a job loss or a health issue, or even a picture taken in your swimsuit on the beach. A significant emotional experience is what jolts our emotions into action.
Action is the hard part. Almost everyone who starts on an improvement plan will give up way before permanent, sustained change is made. This applies to exercising, to eating healthy, to ending addictions, becoming more patient, being a better partner, on and on. Maintaining the action part of the plan is where written goal setting over a long term planning horizon and having accountability partners along the way are so very, very important.
Change can be wonderful, but change is often very difficult and changes that allow you to live your exceptional life and leave the legacy that you desire, these things are you birth right and they’re within your control.
I encourage you to take charge of your life. Make the changes that you need to make and live your fullest, most significant life being all that you can be. Thanks.
