We all want to look and feel our best. There is something about youth that is captivating. We want to hold onto to it tightly, and keep it within our grasp.

Yet, we can’t capture youth. It doesn’t come in a tube, in a procedure, or even in trendy clothes. A slim waistline and tight abs can’t even keep us young. Life is constantly moving and time waits for no one.

Life is always changing and we will thrive if we adapt and learn to flourish throughout the ever-changing stream of life’s chapters, complete with beginnings and endings. Happiness and sadness, joy and pain, accepting each one and embracing our power to rise again after the low points.

While there is something universally captivating about looking younger, there is also a drive within us to feel younger.

I believe in trying to look and feel my best, but never in chasing youth. I suggest the same for you. Being the best version of yourself is always better than trying to be a younger, shinier and more toned-up model of a someone else.

Simply be you.

Embrace the wisdom that comes with life experience and lessons learned along the way. Embracing who you are and living a healthy, joy-filled lifestyle, gives you the foundation for a life lived to the fullest.

In his book Grow Younger, Live Longer: 10 Steps to Reverse Aging, Deepak Chopra, along with David Simon, MD, point out things that contribute to aging such as poor sleep, negative emotions, and one’s perception of the body’s age and time.

I really like Deepak’s advice, and his suggested affirmations that I find the most helpful in my life are:

  • I am reversing my biological age by changing my perceptions of my body, its aging, and of time.
  • I am reversing my biological age through two kinds of deep rest—restful awareness and restful sleep.
  • I am reversing my biological age by lovingly nurturing my body through healthy food.
  • I am reversing my biological age through regular exercise.
  • I am reversing my biological age by eliminating toxins from my physical and emotional bodies.
  • I am reversing my biological age by cultivating flexibility and creativity.
  • I am reversing my biological age by making love the most important thing in my life.
  • I am reversing my biological age by maintaining a youthful mind.

I believe that if you’ll try to think and behave in the ways described above, you find yourself feeling better, stronger, and yes – younger. When you feel healthy, strong and vibrant, you are better equipped to reach out to others and offer them support. When you feel powerful and physically rested, you can better handle stress and the challenges of real life.

I wish you a life of health and laughter along the way. May you embrace the wisdom and beauty that comes with your age and know that health is a gift to be cherished.

Cheers!
