Some thoughts on JOB SEARCH & COMMITMENT.

Looking for a job is hard work. There is no avoiding this.

Maybe you just graduated from college, or graduated some time ago, and haven’t landed that dream job. Maybe you were laid off because of restructuring.  Maybe you have been out of work for a long, long time, and the prospects look bleak. Maybe you quit a job because it didn’t connect with your personal passion or purpose, and now your bills are piling up. Regardless of the reason, the process of looking for a new position is tough and scary.

It is important to accept the situation, set a path of where you want to go, and move forward, with one-hundred percent commitment.  It is amazing what can happen when a person puts all if his thoughts and energy into accomplishment of a goal. Focus and targeted action, without fear and anxiety, results in huge achievement. The challenge is finding a way to stay laser focused, goal-directed, and unrelenting in one’s execution of the plan.

The plan? The plan is the work to be done to find and land that new position. I have a suggestion. Recognize and accept that your success is overwhelmingly a function of what YOU do, or don’t do, in the job hunting process. It is less an outcome of the condition of the overall economy. People are being hired every day. People are finding great jobs with great pay in great locations. Who are these people? They are the ones who ignore the news, who stay optimistic and possess high energy, who surround themselves with positive people and encouraging influences, who take personal responsibility for their situation in life, and who work each and every day according to their written plan for success. For these people, there are no excuses, there are no conditions, there are no reasons to wait, and there is nothing in their way. Look out for these people, as they will certainly be successful.

This could be you. This should be you. If you are looking for a new job, then take full responsibility now, at this moment, to commit. If you haven’t done it, write down your plan of action. Break it down into small steps. Take the first step, and then the second. Make each day a brand new day to achieve what you can on the journey to your success. Inch-by-inch, day-by-day, week-by-week, with a relentless, unwavering commitment to the process, your new job will be in your hands at the proper time.

“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action and discipline that enabled us to follow through.”     ~ Zig Ziglar
