There is all kinds of science that proves that having an attitude of gratitude is the best way to live a life. But we are culturally conditioned to view the world negatively. We tend to complain, fear and look at things in a negative way. People who have an attitude of gratitude are happier, more resilient, more optimistic. They have better health and relationships. This kind of attitude helps you reduce feelings of envy, have happier memories, and helps you bounce back better after stress.

So where do we start? How do we aquire an attitude of gratitude?

Do these three things:
1. Write in a ‘Gratitude Journal.’ Before you go to bed at night, write down three things for which you are grateful.
2. Give at least one person a compliment each day.
3. Pick a local organization to which to donate your time, talent and finances.

If you do these three things each day for 30 days, you will experience a flourishing life. You’ll be living out your best life and impact far more people than you could ever imagine.

Gratitude, what is it? Well, according to the dictionary it’s the quality or the feeling of being grateful or thankful. And there’s all kinds of science out there that proves to us that having an attitude of gratitude is the best way to live a life. But for some reason, most people don’t do it. I know I wrestle with it at times, too. And I think it’s because we’re culturally conditioned to kinda view the world negatively. For whatever reason, we tend to complain and fear and look at things in a negative way when there’s so much evidence out there that if we live lives with an attitude of gratitude, we have better lives.

You know, people that have an attitude of gratitude, they’re happier, they’re more resilient, they’re more optimistic, they have better physical health. They have better relationships. They even achieve their goals better.

You know, just taking five minutes every day to write down the things that you’re thankful for has been proven to have the effect of improving your long-term wellbeing by more than 10%.

An attitude of gratitude, it helps reduce feelings of envy. It helps you have happier memories, it helps you bounce back faster from stress. And people with an attitude of gratitude, they’re less materialistic, they’re more spiritual. They have higher self-esteem, they have better physical health. They sleep better, they have deeper relationships. They have better marriages. They have increased personal productivity.

So again, the scientific evidence is, is really thorough on this and it proves the case that people who have an attitude of gratitude live better lives. But again, it’s so incredibly difficult to do.

So I wanna give you three things that you can do that you can start right now to improving in your life to develop an attitude of gratitude.

Number one is, get a journal like this one and call it your gratitude journal. And every night, before you go to bed, write down three things that happened that day in your life for which you’re grateful for. That you’re thankful for. It could be a person, it could be an event. But write down those three things.

Number two, find at least one person every day and give them a compliment.

And number three, pick a local organization that you have interest in and volunteer or become a member and donate your time, your talent and your money to help that organization grow and improve and whatever it does.

If you’ll do these three things for 30 days in a row, I guarantee you’ll start to see your life move in a better direction. And if you’ll do these three things every day for a year, you’ll start to see your life change in ways that you could’ve never imagined. And not only that, you’ll start to impact the lives of the people around you. Your family, your friends, your community and ultimately, the world at large.
