Summary:

I never used to exercise. I thought it was silly. I somehow managed to avoid getting overweight, but I wasn’t physically very strong, and I didn’t have a lot of endurance.

I also didn’t know how amazingly good I would feel if I did exercise. I just thought it was kind of a time waster. I guess I was lazy, and I just wasn’t interested in it, but I changed and I’m so thankful that I did. I now love to run and I love to workout at the gym, and I sleep great, and I wake up with a ton of energy. I feel good.

I made some big changes in my life when I was around 45, that was around 10 years ago. Back then, I decided to resign from my corporate job, I opened an executive recruiting business, and I also hired a life coach, Dr. Tom Hill. Dr. Hill poured into me a bunch of new things. One was that I should commit to my health, through exercise and diet, and I started working on it. I liked the way I began to feel and I even learned to like spinach in a smoothie. It’s actually pretty good if you add enough fruit to it.

If you’re already exercising, you may be way ahead of the game. Good for you! But if you’re not, and you need some help, then please know you’re not alone. Most people don’t really exercise at all, and most people are overweight. This does not have to be you, and I want to share with you five easy and unbelievably simple steps you can take, right now, to improve your health and your level of physical fitness. No pills, no gimmicks, just old-fashioned habits that really work. Here they are.

  1. Get daily exercise of at least 30 minutes. Walking is a good place to start, and it’s perfect for all ages. Just start where you are and do what you can, but just start.
  2. Eat a healthy diet. You know what this means for you. If you’re able to make even small changes in each meal, then you’re well on your way. I try to include a fruit and a vegetable in every meal that I eat.
  3. Enjoy quiet time each day, and get away. Get away from all the noise. This can be from prayer, or meditation, or reflection, but just unwinding and letting your mind decompress from all the stress of your day can make a big difference.
  4. Drink water, all day long. I challenge you to take soft drinks completely out of your diet. You just don’t need them.
  5. Get enough sleep each night to wake up feeling rested. This will look different for every person. You may be one of those that only need six hours of sleep to feel refreshed. Now for me, I need about eight hours of sleep. Also, I’m a huge believer in the power of the early morning, and I encourage you to try this out. Embrace the amazing energy that comes from getting up really early. Getting up really early also helps me fall asleep easier at night.
  6. Buy Seth Godin’s goal setting book called Pick Four, and make the health goal as one of the four goals that you’ll focus on for the next 12 weeks. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can create new positive habits, and you’ll be proud of the sense of control you develop as you actually start to see improvements in your health, and in your energy level. I can almost guarantee you’ll be happier as well.

My friends, here’s to a long, long life of health, happiness, and abundance.

Hey guys. Coach Brett Blair here. You know, I never used to exercise. I thought it was silly. I somehow managed to avoid getting overweight but I wasn’t physically very strong and I didn’t have a lot of endurance. I also didn’t know how amazingly good I would feel if I did exercise. I just thought it was kind of a time waster. I guess I was lazy and I just wasn’t interested in it, but I changed and I’m so thankful that I did. I now love to run and I love to workout at the gym, and I sleep great, and I wake up with a ton of energy. I feel good.

I made some big changes in my life when I was around 45, that was around 10 years ago. Back then I decided to resign from my corporate job, I opened an executive recruiting business, and I also hired a life coach, Dr. Tom Hill. Dr. Hill poured into me a bunch of new things. One was, that I should commit to my health, through exercise and diet, and I started working on it. I liked the way I began to feel and I even learned to like spinach in a smoothie. It’s actually pretty good if you add enough fruit with it.

If you’re already exercising, you may be way ahead of the game, good for you, but if you’re not, and you need some help, then please know you’re not alone.

Number one, get daily exercise of at least 30 minutes. Now walking is a good place to start and it’s perfect for all ages. Just start where you are and do what you can, but just start. Number two, eat a healthy diet. You know what this means for you. If you’re able to make even small changes in each meal, then you’re well on your way. I try to include a fruit and a vegetable in every meal that I eat. Number three, enjoy quiet time each day, and get away; get away from all the noise. This can be from prayer, or meditation, or reflection, but just unwinding and letting your mind decompress from all the stress of your day.

Number four, drink water, like all day long. I challenge you to take soft drinks completely out of your diet. You just don’t need them. Number five, get enough sleep each night to wake up feeling rested. Finally, I suggest you go out and buy Seth Godin’s goal setting book called Pick Four, and make the health goal as one of the four goals that you’ll focus on for the next 12 weeks.

Thanks.
