Brett Auto Show with BOLTI love going to the Detroit Auto Show. This year I did something different, and took my 24 year old son, Patrick, along as my date to the Charity Preview on Friday night at COBO. We had a wonderful time, and helped to raise more than $5 million for children’s charities in Michigan. Over $100 million has been raised since 1976, making the Charity Preview the largest single-night fundraiser in the world.

I saw many of you at the preview, but for those of you who I missed, I hope you were there or attended on some other date. It is definitely worth the price of the ticket to get in.

There were 55 vehicles introduced, of which nine were concept cars. The main theme that I saw at the show were new luxury and high performance vehicles. One of my favorites was the 2016 mid-engine Ford GT. I also loved the 2016 Acura NSX.

There were also several new alternative energy vehicles, such as the new Chevy Volt, Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, Honda’s hydrogen-powered FCV concept, BMW i8, electric versions of VW Golf and Jetta, Porsche plug-in hybrid 911 Targa FTS, as well as Tesla’s Model S.

The overall auto industry is doing fantastic, designing and producing amazing new vehicles, and making record profits. This backdrop provided the foundation from which to put on an amazing show, with an energy level that I haven’t seen for several years.

It is exciting to recruit in the automotive market these days, and I predict a continued strong labor market for 2015 and hopefully for many more years to come.
